Betzold was a double threat for the Cardinal fastpitch softball team in their four nonconference games last weekend.
At the plate, the senior hit .538—going 7-for-13—with a double, three runs scored, and a pair of RBIs. Betzold was a near-perfect 6-for-7 in Saint Mary's split against UW-River Falls last Saturday, while going 1-for-6 against No. 24 UW-La Crosse the following day.
In the pitcher's circle, the right-hander tossed three straight complete games, before getting Game 2 against No. 24 UW-La Crosse off. Betzold, who went 2-1 with a 2.23 ERA, allowed just 12 runs—seven earned—while walking five and striking out 10 in 22.0 IP.
