Last Action:
After posting back-to-back wins over Hamline and Concordia, the Cardinals have now dropped their last two, including an 84-64 loss to Augsburg in Minneapolis, Minn., on Monday. … Macalester, meanwhile, got 23 points from Kyle Hamblett, but it was not enough, as Carleton handed the Scots an 86-75 setback Monday in St. Paul, Minn.

Last Meeting: Will Wright (Chicago, Ill.) scored with 20 seconds remaining — giving SMU its first lead of the game — then knocked down one of two free throws with five seconds remaining, as SMU opened its conference schedule with a 67-65 victory over Macalester at the SMU Gym on Dec. 3.

A Year Ago: Macalester swept the teams' two MIAC contests a year ago. The Scots' Abe Woldeslassie drained a left-handed layup with 1.6 seconds left on the clock to beat the Cardinals 72-70 in the first meeting on Dec. 4. Macalester then completed the sweep, getting a pair of free throws from Kyle Hamblett with seven seconds remaining to ice a 68-65 Scot victory.

Cardinal Notes: : Lukas Holland (La Crosse, Wis.) scored a team-leading 13 points in the Cardinals' 20-point loss to Augsburg Monday. It was just the second time in the Cardinals' first 15 games in which SMU did not have a 20-point scorer. … Holland's 13 points were also the fewest by the team's leading scorer all season. … Holland has now scored in double figures in 21 of the team's last 22 games. … Holland's team-high 13 points was just the second time in 15 games that the Cardinals have boasted a 20-point scorer. … Will Wright (Chicago, Ill.) — named the MIAC's Co-Player of the Week after averaging 27 points and six rebounds in the Cardinals' two games last week, chipped in 11 points vs. Augsburg Monday. … Wright scored a team-high 30 points vs. St. Olaf last Saturday, marking the third time this season the SMU sophomore has eclipsed the 30-point barrier. … Wright, who also netted 24 points vs. the Cobbers last Wednesday, has now scored 10 or more points in 34 of the team's last 40 games — including 20 or more points 10 times in the Cardinals' last 14 contests. … Last Saturday's loss to St. Olaf snapped the Cardinals' season-high two-game winning streak. It was the first two-game winning streak since the 2006-07 season, while Saturday's loss also ended SMU's hopes of its first three-game win streak since disposing of Saint John's, Macalester and Hamline during a five-day stretch from Jan. 22-27, 2007. …  Bradley Bruno (Chicago, Ill.) scored a career-high 22 points, and also pulled down 10 rebounds en route to his first collegiate double-double vs. Hamline on Jan. 7. … Bruno's 22-point effort marked just the second time this season — and just the second time in SMU's last 31 games — that Holland or Wright have not led the team in scoring. …  Wright and Holland enter tonight's game averaging in double figures, with Wright boasting a team-best 21.1 ppg average, while Holland is at 15.9 ppg. Wright is also ranked No. 2 in the MIAC in scoring with his 20.7 ppg average. …  SMU made a season-best 11 3-pointers vs. the Auggies Monday, while also dishing out a season-best 14 assists.

Scot Notes: With Monday's loss to Carleton, the Scots saw their season-opening losing streak climb to 15 straight. The loss also extended Macalester's overall losing streak to 23 straight, dating back to a 68-65 win over Saint Mary's on Jan. 30, 2008. … The Scots are last in the MIAC in scoring offense, scoring defense, rebounding margin and turnover margin. … Carleton's 86 points were the eighth time this season the Scots have surrendered 80 or more points. Only three times in Macalester's first 15 games have the Scots held an opponent under 70 points. On the flip side, Macalester's 75 points vs. Carleton were a season high and just the third time this season the Scots have eclipsed the 70-point barrier. … Kyle Hamblett scored a team-best 23 points in Monday's loss vs. Carleton. It was the seventh time this season Hamblett has led the team in scoring and the third time he has netted 20 or more points.
