A Year Ago: The Cardinals swept the teams' two-game series a year ago, beating the Oles by identical 5-4 scores. Ingrid Klockars (Wheaton, Ill.) scored two goals — including the game-winner with less than four minutes remaining in regulation — as the Cardinals topped St. Olaf 5-4 at the SMU Ice Arena on Feb. 1. In the rematch the following day in Northfield, Minn., SMU got scoring from five different players and Brittany Lemke stopped 48 shots in the Cardinals' second 5-4 win.

SMU scored just nine power play goals all season last year. … St. Catherine's one goal last Friday were the fewest allowed by SMU this season and the fewest since the Cardinals battled Hamline to a 1-1 tie on Jan. 19, 2008. … SMU's 5-0 loss to the Wildcats last Saturday marked the fourth time this season the Cardinals have been held without a goal. SMU has been held to one goal or less in eight of their nine losses. … SMU's win and loss vs. St. Catherine last weekend was the first time this season the Cardinals have split a two-game series. SMU has been swept in three of their four two-game series (4-1, 3-0 vs. Gustavus, 5-2, 2-0 vs. Concordia and 5-1, 6-0 vs. Adrian), while sweeping Hamline (5-3 and 5-2). …  SMU's 5-3 win at Hamline on Dec. 5 was the first — and only — road victory of the season for the Cardinals, who are now 3-15-2 on the road in their last two seasons.

Ole Notes: Friday's 3-3 tie vs. Saint Mary's was the Oles' fifth overtime game this season and St. Olaf's fourth tie.
