WINONA, Minn. — The Saint Mary's University women's soccer team, coming off its final nonconference game of the season — a 2-0 loss at UW-Platteville on Sunday — plays the first of two MIAC games to close out the season Wednesday, hosting Augsburg in a 6 p.m. contest at Ochrymowycz Field.

Last Action: The Cardinals gave up a pair of first-half goals six minutes apart midway through the first half and never recovered in falling to UW-Platteville 2-0 Sunday afternoon in Platteville, Wis. Augsburg, meanwhile, got two goals from both Whitney Holman and Kelsey Sorensen in routing Hamline 6-0 Saturday in St. Paul, Minn.

Saint Mary's Cardinal Notes: Sunday's game was the final nonconference game of the season for the Cardinals, who close out their season with back-to-back home conference contests against Augsburg (Wednesday) and St. Thomas (Saturday). … SMU's loss to UW-Platteville Sunday was just the third in the last 38 nonconference games (34-3-1). The Cardinals are now 34-6-2 in nonconference play since the start of the 2004 season. … Saturday's double-OT game vs. Saint Benedict was the third overtime game of the season for SMU, which also dropped a 2-1 OT decision to Macalester and settled for a 0-0 2 OT tie vs. Bethel. SMU is still looking for its first overtime win since a 1-0 win over St. Catherine on Sept. 13, 2007, going 0-3-3 in six OT games since then. … Mariana Sanchez (Puebla, Mexico), who stopped nine shots in Saturday's 2 OT loss to Saint Benedict, stopped three shots against UW-Platteville Sunday. … Sanchez has now stopped 86 shots this season and enters today's game boasting a 1.12 goals-against-average and an .825 save percentage. … Amy Sibik (Onalaska, Wis.) leads the Cardinals in goals (13) and points (30). Sibik's 13 goals are a single-season career best and give her 33 career goals, moving her within four goals of Barb Bock for sixth all-time in SMU women's soccer history. … Sibik enters today's game boasting eight multiple-goal games in her three-year collegiate career. … Caitlyn Cole (Larson, Wis.) boasts a team-best seven assists. … The Cardinals have only lost once in their last 49 games in which they have scored two or more goals, with that lone loss last year's 3-2 setback to Hamline. … SMU has only allowed seven goals in the first half this season.

Augsburg Auggie Notes: The Auggies extended a pair of streaks with their 6-0 win over Hamline Saturday. Augsburg has now won back-to-back games for the first time this season, and the Auggies pushed their unbeaten streak to three straight (2-0-1). … Augsburg has not allowed a goal in its last three games — tying Carleton 0-0, while blanking UW-River Falls (2-0) and Hamline (6-0). … Five of Augsburg's 16 games have ended in ties — two by 0-0 decisions and three by a final score of 1-1. … Augsburg's six goals vs. Hamline equaled the Auggies' offensive output from their previous six games combined. It also marked just the third time in 16 games Augsburg has scored more than one goal in a game. … Lacey Hoover leads the team in goals (6) and points (13), while Bri Dorale is the team-leader in assists with four. … GKs Diana Bocklund and Katie Flakne have combined to post a 1.05 goals-against-average and an .854 save percentage. Bocklund also boasts a team-leading four shutouts. … The Auggies have outscored their opponents 19-18, but have surrendered 14 of those 18 goals in the second half.
