Last Action: The Cardinals have been off since March 15, when they completed a 3-4 spring trip in Phoenix, Ariz., with 11-10 and 6-2 wins over SUNY-New Paltz. … UW-La Crosse, meanwhile, is also coming off a successful spring trip to Phoenix, Ariz., where the Eagles went 8-1, opening with eight straight wins before falling to Johns Hopkins 6-4 in their final game on March 21.

Last Meeting: The Cardinals and Eagles have not met since 2007, when SMU came away with a 5-2 victory in a scheduled nine-inning game that was shortened to seven due to rain.

Saint Mary's Cardinal Notes: SMU's 7-5, Game 2 win over Monmouth College on March 13 was not only the team's first win of the season, but it was also the first win for first-year head coach Nick Winecke. … SMU posted its first doubleheader sweep of the season with their spring trip-ending 11-10, 6-2 victory over SUNY-New Paltz. … The Cardinals' 11 runs vs. SUNY-New Paltz were the most since plating 15 in a 15-5 Game 2 win over Carleton on April 14, 2008. … Zach Olberding (Maplewood, Minn.) and Curt Swenson (Woodbury, Minn.) launched SMU's first two home runs of the season — and of their collegiate careers — vs. Monmouth, and Olberding added his team-leading second round-tripper vs. SUNY-New Paltz two days later. … David Dahlstrom (Rochester, Minn.) picked up his first collegiate pitching win, tossing the last two innings of relief in the Cardinals' March 15 Game 1 win vs. SUNY-New Paltz. … Olberding hit a team-best .500 in SMU's seven games in Phoenix, while also driving in a team-leading seven runs and boasting a .938 slugging percentage. … As a team, the Cardinals hit .327 on their spring trip, with four players hitting better than .400. … Kyle Ryan (St. Paul, Minn.) led the team in hits (10), triples (1) and stolen bases (4). … More than half of SMU's 33 hits were for extra bases, including 12 doubles, two triples and three home runs. He also enters today's game having hit safely in his last five games. … Ryan and Andrew Warren (Stillwater, Minn.) share the team lead with four multiple-hit games. … Chris Bogie (St. Paul, Minn.) went 0-for-3 in Game 2 vs. SUNY-New Paltz, snapping the sophomore's team-best six-game hitting streak. … Andy Pass (Shoreview, Minn.) tossed a complete-game five-hitter in SMU's 6-2 win over SUNY-New Paltz on March 15. It was the first collegiate complete-game for the senior lefthander. … The Cardinals were a perfect 14-for-14 in stolen bases in Phoenix, while SMU catchers threw out three of seven potential base stealers.

UW-La Crosse Eagle Notes: After opening the season with a 6-3 loss to St. Scholastica in the Metrodome, the Eagles put together eight straight wins in Phoenix, Ariz. — beating Western New England 10-9, before sweeping Augsburg (11-2, 12-6), Concordia (8-4, 3-1) and Brockport State (10-4, 4-2). UW-L closed out its spring trip with a 6-4 loss to Johns Hopkins. … UW-L has scored 10 or more runs in four of its seven wins. … The Eagles are coming off a 19-20 season a year ago, including a 12-12 mark in the WIAC. … Fifteen of the Eagles' 19 wins last season came on the road, UW-L was just 4-10 on their home field.
