MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. — The Saint Mary's University women's soccer team, still clinging to hopes of an MIAC Playoff berth, begin the final week of the regular season on the road on Wednesday, traveling to Augsburg for a 7:30 p.m. conference game against the Auggies.

Last Action:
The Cardinals gave up a pair of goals in a 12-minute span early in the second half and could not recover, as Saint Benedict handed SMU a 2-1 setback at Ochrymowycz Field Saturday evening. Augsburg, meanwhile, scored single goals in both halves in cruising to a 2-0 MIAC win over Hamline Friday in Minneapolis, Minn.

Amy Sibik (Onalaska, Wis.) scored the game's only goal five minutes into the second half, as the Cardinals handed Augsburg a 1-0 conference loss at Ochrymowycz Field.

MIAC Playoff Picture Top 4 Earn Berths:
The Cardinals enter their final two conference games still in the hunt for the fourth and final playoff spot — but they are going to need some help. SMU is currently tied with Augsburg at 4-4-1, three points out of the last playoff spot with two games remaining. The Cardinals must win tonight at Augsburg and Saturday at St. Thomas, and have St. Olaf and Saint Benedict lose at least one of their final games to have any chance of reaching the four-team post-season tournament.

Last Saturday's game was the final home game for the Cardinals, and the final collegiate home game for SMU seniors Amy Sibik (Onalaska, Wis.), Tania Trowbridge (Shakopee, Minn.) Emily Friedl (La Crescent, Minn.) and Kelsey Peyton (Excelsior, Minn.). … Sibik made her final home game a memorable one, as the SMU senior scored her team-leading 11th goal of the season. … Sibik enters tonight's game at Augsburg with 45 career goals, ranking her No. 5 all-time. The senior forward also boasts 103 career points, making her just the sixth player in SMU women's soccer history to eclipse the 100 career point plateau. … Sibik has now scored 10 or more goals in three of her four collegiate seasons, including a career-best 14 a year ago. … Sibik — who's 27 points are second in the MIAC ¬— leads the team with a career-best five assists. … Cassie Hulett (Milwaukee, Wis.) enters today's game against Augsburg as the conference leader in shutouts (7), while her 87 saves (6.33 spg) are also tops among MIAC goalkeepers. … All seven of SMU's wins — not to mention its lone tie ¬— have been by shutout. … The Cardinals have outscored their opponents 13-7 in the first half and 13-10 after halftime. … The Cardinals' 1-0 win over Macalester on Oct. 9 snapped a 14-game winless streak against the Scots that dated back to a 1-0 victory in 1995. … SMU's 0-0 tie vs. league-leading Concordia on Oct. 2 ended an 11-game losing streak against the Cobbers that dated back to a 2-1 Cardinal victory during the 1998 season. … After going 0-4-3 in its previous seven overtime games, the Cardinals are now 1-0-1 in their last two. … SMU's seven goals vs. Lakeland and Ripon on Sept. 4 and Sept. 5, respectively, are the most since the Cardinals netted nine in a 9-0 win over Presentation in 2008.

Augsburg Auggies News and Notes:
With their win against Hamline Friday, the Auggies are now 2-1-1 in their last five games — sandwiching 2-0 wins around a 1-1 tie vs. Carleton and a 2-1 double-overtime loss to St. Scholastica. … Ten of Augsburg's 16 games have been decided by one goal or less. … The Auggies enter today's game having gone into overtime six times, and are still searching for their first OT win of the season (0-3-3). … Carly Reimer and Bri Clark scored Augsburg's two goals vs. Hamline Saturday. It was Reimer's team-leading fifth goal of the season, while Clark's was her fourth of the year. … Courtney Gamrath leads the team in assists with five and it tied with Reimer for the team lead in points with 13. … Katie Gajewski stopped all five Hamline shots she faced Saturday en route to her third shutout of the season. … Gajewski and Diane Bocklund have shared the goalkeeping duties all season, combining for a 1.58 goals-against-average and an .820 save percentage. … Three of the Auggies' five wins — and all three of their ties — have come on their home field.
