DECORAH, Iowa — The Saint Mary's University women's soccer team, coming off a heartbreaking 3-2 double-overtime loss at UW-La Crosse on Wednesday, return to action — and the road — Saturday, traveling to Luther for a 7 p.m. nonconference contest against the Norse.

Last Action:
The Cardinals suffered a heartbreaking 3-2 defeat at UW-La Crosse on Wednesday, giving up an own goal to tie the game with less than 10 minutes remaining in regulation, then surrendering the game-winner on a free kick in the second overtime in La Crosse, Wis. Luther, meanwhile, gave up a pair of goals in each half in falling to St. Olaf 4-0 in a nonconference game in Decorah, Iowa.

The Cardinals and Norse have not met since the 1996 season, when SMU rolled to a 3-0 victory The two teams have met five times since 1991, with the Cardinals winning all five by a combined 13-1.

SMU's 2 OT loss to UW-La Crosse snapped the Cardinals' two-game winning streak. … Amy Sibik (Onalaska, Wis.) scored her team-leading seventh goal of the season vs. the Eagles Wednesday. Sibik has scored all seven of her goals in the Cardinals' last three games. … Sibik's 41 career goals rank No. 5 all-time, 13 goals back of No. 4 Kerry Ambrose's 54. … Along with her team-leading seven goals, Sibik also boasts a team-best 17 points, giving her 93 points for her career. Wednesday's loss to St. Olaf snapped Luther's season-opening, two-game unbeaten streak (1-0-1). … Two of Luther's first three games have been against Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference foes — Augsburg (T, 0-0) and St. Olaf (L, 4-0). The Norse will also face the MIAC's Saint Mary's and Macalester this season. … Dani Meirick and Kelsey Balk have accounted for Luther's two goals this season, while Paige Ofstedahl has the team's lone assist. … GK Hannah Wright has played every minute in goal for the Norse, compiling a 1.24 goals-against-average and a .765 save percentage. … St. Olaf's two second-half goals Wednesday marked the first time this season the Norse have surrendered a goal after halftime.
