WINONA, Minn. – A late first-half goal was all the offense Augsburg needed to come away with the win Saturday, as they rained the Saint Mary's University women's soccer team's Senior Day parade with a 1-0 victory at Ochrymowycz Field.

“You can't ask for more from the ladies that played.” SMU coach Neil Cassidy said. “They put everything into it as they always do. It's just that that one goal happens and it's hard to come back from.

“It was a celebration of our seniors and in terms of that, we did OK.”

Augsburg's Rachel Nelson found the back of the net off a pass from Courtney Gamrath with 4:44 left in the first half, which proved to be enough offense for the Auggies as the Cardinals were unable to come back.

Senior Cassie Hulett (Milwaukee, Wis.) had four saves for the Cardinals in her final game between the pipes, while fellow senior Amanda Rahman (Rochester, Minn.) recorded a team-high three shots.

Through his first season as Cardinal head coach, Cassidy is proud of how cohesive his team became both on and off the field.

“I've only known most of them for three months,” Cassidy said. “But it feels so much longer and the connections that they have as a group are something special."

The Cardinals finished the season with a 1-10-0 record in the MIAC and were 3-14-0 mark overall.
