WAVERLY, Iowa — The Saint Mary's University men's and women's cross country teams close out their 2011 seasons Saturday, traveling to Wartburg for the NCAA Central Regional.

NCAA Central Regional — A Year Ago:
November 13, 2010: David Feather (Oak Creek, Wis.) recorded career-best eight-kilometer time of 26:12 — an All-Region performance at the season-ending NCAA Central Regional. Feather's 27th-place effort helped the Cardinal men place 16th in the 26-team field, while the SMU women — behind the efforts of Emily Dee (Racine, Minn.) — finished 19th in the 27-team women's field.

October 29, 2011: David Feather (Oak Creek, Wis.) made his final Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Cross Country Championships a memorable one, as the Cardinal senior placed 22nd overall, leading the SMU men to a seventh-place team finish. On the women's side, Katie Stolz (Forest Lake, Minn.) led the way for the Cardinals, touring the six-kilometer Como Park course in 24:53 in leading SMU to a 12th-place finish.

David Feather's (Oak Creek, Wis.) eight-kilometer time of 26:24 at the MIAC Championships was one-tenth of a second off his season-best time of 26:23 recorded at the St. Olaf Invitational. … Feather's effort was also the fourth-fastest 8K time in his illustrious collegiate career. … Aaron Haley (Plainview, Minn.) was the second Cardinal across the line at the conference meet, as the freshman recorded a career-best time of 26:34. … Peter Borash (Bowlus, Minn.) finished his third MIAC Championships in 26:56, with John Soucheray (Woodbury, Minn. / 27:21) and Jake Traxler (Le Center / 27:23) rounding out the Cardinals' top five. … Katie Stolz (Forest Lake, Minn.) led the way for the Cardinal women at the conference championships, touring the six-kilometer Como Park course in 24:53 in leading SMU to a 12th-place finish. … Stolz's 24:53 6K time at the MIAC Championships was nearly a minute faster than her previous career best (25:50). … The Cardinals got a time of 25:05 from Regina Quandt (Minneapolis, Minn.) at the MIAC Championships, while Amy Spitzmueller (New Brighton, Minn.) and Jordan Junker (Glenwood City, Wis.) were close behind in 25:26 and 25:28, respectively.
