10-2 in the opener, before bouncing back with an
8-2 win in the nightcap. … Concordia, meanwhile, is coming off a pair of conference losses at Hamline on Monday in St. Paul, Minn. The Cobbers jumped out to a 4-0, third-inning lead, but gave up seven unanswered runs in falling 7-4 in the opener. Last Meeting —
May 6, 2010:
SMU miscues overshadowed
Brett Ferschweiler's stellar pitching performance, as the Cardinals committed three errors — including one in the first that ignited the Cobbers' three-run opening inning — in falling to Concordia
5-3 in Game 1 of their conference twinbill in Moorhead, Minn.
Andrew Ruf (Chippewa Fall, Wis.) could certainly sympathize with Ferschweiler, as he was also a complete-game, hard-luck loser, giving up a two-out, three-run home run in the bottom of the sixth inning — one of just three hits he allowed all afternoon — as Concordia completed the sweep with a
4-1 victory in Game 2.
