The Cardinals were held to nine hits in their MIAC-opening doubleheader against St. Olaf Saturday at Max Molock Field, as the Oles swept SMU 7-0 and 10-1. … Carleton, meanwhile, opened its conference schedule with a split against defending MIAC regular-season and tournament champion St. Thomas in Northfield, Minn. The Knights won the opener 6-3, but dropped a 3-2 decision in the nightcap.

For the first time this season, St. Olaf held SMU sophomore Vince Lulic (Mendota Heights, Minn.) hitless last Saturday, snapping his season- and career-high 15-game hitting streak.
