NORTHFIELD, Minn. — It was another busy night in goal for Saint Mary's University's Miranda Halling (Rochester, Minn.), as the Cardinals goalkeeper kicked out 12 shots in SMU's Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference contest against Carleton.

Offensively, however, the Cardinals weren't able to solve the Knights' smothering defense, as SMU managed just one shot on goal in falling to Carleton 2-0 at Bell Field.

Carleton got on the board in the game's sixth minute, as Marlena Hartman-Filson scored her fourth goal of the season off an assist from Karlie Haug.

Hartman-Filson was at it again in the second half, as the senior's corner kick went right to teammate Madelaine Horn, who beat Halling to give Carleton the 2-0 advantage.

Carleton held an 8-1 advantage in shots on goal in the game's opening 45 minutes, then added five more shots in the final 45 minutes, while Mikayla Coulombe did not have to make a second-half save in notching the shutout.

The Cardinals (0-7-0 MIAC, 0-13-0 overall) are back in action on Saturday, traveling to St. Paul, Minn., for a 1 p.m. conference game against St. Catherine.
