STEVENS POINT, Wis. — Miranda Halling (Rochester, Minn.) made her 11th straight start in goal for the Saint Mary's University women's soccer team Wednesday afternoon — and UW-Stevens Point made sure to keep her busy.

Halling stopped 10 UW-Stevens Point shots — five in each half — but it was not enough, as the Cardinals dropped a 3-0 nonconference decision to the Pointers.

The Cardinals kept the high-powered Pointer attack off the scoreboard for the majority of the first half, but Sammy Greer and Kelsey Majerus broke the scoreless tie with back-to-back goals two minutes apart in the final three minutes of the half to take a 2-0 advantage into the intermission.

Carly Falk pushed the UW-Stevens Point lead to 3-0 in the 83 minute, banging a rebound past Halling.

Lia Irwin (Prescott, Ariz.), Heidi Martin (Ankeny, Iowa) and Caroline Blackwood (Norwalk, Ohio) accounted for the Cardinals' three shots on goal, while Falk (4) and Majerus (3) accounted for seven of the Pointers' 13 shots on Halling.

The Cardinals return to Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play on Saturday, traveling to St. Paul, Minn., for a 1 p.m. game against Hamline.
