WINONA, Minn. — The Saint Mary's University men's and women's cross country teams are back in action on Friday, as the Cardinals host the SMU No-Limit Invitational.

The Cardinals' Last Action:
The Cardinals have been off since Sept. 15, when both teams took part in the St. Olaf Invitational in Northfield, Minn. Peter Borash (Bowlus, Minn.) placed 12th overall to lead the SMU men to a fifth-place team finish, while the SMU women, meanwhile, placed 15th in the 22-team field.

SMU No-Limit Invitational A Year Ago:
September 23, 2011: Peter Borash (Bowlus, Minn.) led the Cardinal charge, placing third overall with an eight-kilometer time of 27:11, helping the SMU men to a second-place finish, while Kristen Thelen (Rochester, Minn.) toured the 6K course in 25:17 to finish 26th overall and help the Cardinal women to a fifth-place showing. … Josh Kaul of UW-La Crosse won the 8K race with a time of 26:28, leading the Eagles to the men's team title. UW-Eau Claire's Alana Jenkins (23:52) led a 2-3-4-5 Blugold finish en route to the women's team title.

The Cardinals return to action on Oct. 13, when both teams travel to La Crosse, Wis., to take part in the UW-La Crosse Jim Drews Invitational.

Peter Borash (Bowlus, Minn.) clocked an 8K time of 26:41 at the St. Olaf Invitational to place 12th overall. It marked the second time in as many meets that the Cardinal senior has been SMU's top finisher. … Borash cruised the four-mile course in 21:16 to take home individual honors at the SMU Alumni Open on Sept. 1. … The win was the first collegiate individual title for Borash — who was named MIAC Cross Country Athletic of the Week for his efforts. … Jake Traxler (Le Center, Minn.) and Aaron Haley (Plainview, Minn.) gave SMU three runners in the top 35 at the St. Olaf Invitational. Traxler posted a time of  26:59, while Haley was close beind in 27:10. … John Soucheray (Woodbury, Minn.) finished 51st overall (27:44) at the St. Olaf Invitational to round of the Cardinals' top four. … Katie Stolz (Forest Lake, Minn.) led the way for the SMU women at the St. Olaf Invitational, posting a 6K time of 24:53 to finish 59th overall. … Kristen Thelen (Rochester, Minn.) added a time of 25:32, while Allie Thiel (Burr Ridge, Ill. / 25:36) and Clare Siska (Rochester, Minn. / 25:39) were the third and fourth Cardinals across the line.
