WEST SALEM, Wis. — The Saint Mary's University men's and women's cross country teams hit the road on Saturday, traveling to the Maple Grove Golf Course to take part in the UW-La Crosse Jim Drews/Tori Neubauer Invitationals.

October 4, 2013: For the second straight Friday, Aaron Haley (Plainview, Minn.) and Allie Thiel (Burr Ridge, Ill.) took the lead role for SMU at the UW-Eau Claire Blugold Invitational in Eau Claire, Wis. Haley led the Cardinal men to a 19th-place showing, while Thiel guided the SMU women to a 21st-place effort.

October 13, 2012: The Cardinal men got a career-best eight-kilometer time of 26:00 from sophomore Aaron Haley (Plainview, Minn.) en route to a 16th-place finish in the 26-team Jim Drews Field, while the SMU women, behind Katie Stolz's (Forest Lake, Minn.) 23:52 6K effort, placed 18th in the 26-team Tori Neubauer Invitational field.

Aaron Haley (Plainview, Minn.) clocked an eight-kilometer time of 26:08 at the UW-Eau Claire Invitational on Oct. 4. It was the junior's fastest time of the season and just eight one-hundreths of a second shy of his school-record time of 26:00 — set at last year's Jim Drews Invitational. … Haley, who recorded his second straight individual SMU No-Limit Invitational title on Sept. 27, has finished as the team leader in all three of the events he's run in this season. … Along with Haley's 26:08 at the UW-Eau Claire Invitational, the Cardinal men also got a 27:23 from Jase Pater (Adrian, Minn.) and a 27:58 from John Soucheray (Woodbury, Minn.), while Jovan Newsum (Glendale Heights, Ill. / 28:04) and Alex Davis (Champaign, Ill. / 28:53) rounded out SMU's top five. … Allie Thiel (Burr Ridge, Ill.) led the Cardinal women for the second straight week at the UW-Eau Claire Invitational on Oct. 4, cutting a minute off her season-best 6K time in posting a 24:10. … Along with Thiel's season-best performance, Bridget Hayes (Chicago, Ill.) added a time of 25:29, with Josie Moreno (Cicero, Ill.) and Amy Spitzmueller (New Brighton, Minn.) close behind at 25:42 and 25:46, respectively.
