WINONA, Minn. — The Saint Mary's University women's soccer team had its offense in tip-top shape Wednesday evening in its Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Confernece game against Hamline, as the Cardinals equaled their season high for shots on goal.

Hamline goalkeeper Erin Urbanowicz, however, was up to the task each and every time SMU delivered a shot on goal.

Miranda Halling (Rochester, Minn.) was equally as impressive in goal for the Cardinals, recording seven saves — including several highlight-reel stops.

Unfortunately for Halling and the Cardinals, the one Hamline shot that eluded the junior goalkeeper proved to be the game's only goal, as the Pipers scored late in the first half and made it stand up in beating SMU 1-0 at Ochrymowycz Field.

Eden Behrens got the Pipers on the board in the 39th minute, scoring her team-leading eighth goal of the season. Behrens headed a cross by Malya Hirshkowitz that Halling appeared to have stopped, but it was ruled that despite the diving save attempt, crossed the goal line for the game's only tally.

Emma Schaefer (Falcon Heights, Minn.) accounted for three of the Cardinals' six shots on goal, while Tessa Scanlon (Cologne, Minn.) had two shots and Caroline Blackwood (Norwalk, Ohio) recorded the other.

The Cardinals close out their 2013 season on Saturday, traveling to St. Paul, Minn., for a 1 p.m. MIAC game against Macalester.
