Last Action:
The Cardinals picked up their second conference split in as many days on Thursday, as SMU blanked Saint John's 2-0 in Game 1, but came up short in dropping Game 2 5-1 in Arden Hills, Minn. … The Oles, who had not played since April 7, got back into action in impressive fashion, taking both games of an MIAC doubleheader against Carleton in Northfield, Minn. St. Olaf won the opener 9-5, the completed the sweep with a 7-1 Game 2 win.

SMU vs. St. Olaf — A Year Ago:
April 18, 2012: When SMU swept Gustavus 7-6 and 15-4 four days earlier, it snapped a string of 41 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference doubleheaders without an SMU sweep — dating back to a pair of one-run wins over Hamline on April 8, 2008. To find the last time the Cardinals swept back-to-back conference twinbills, you'd have to go back even further — to April 26-27, 2003, when SMU beat Bethel 7-2 and 7-0, then followed that up a day later with 15-1 and 10-2 wins over Carleton. And the Cardinals promptly put an end to that streak, as SMU swept past St. Olaf, outscoring the Oles 11-8 in the opener, then holding on for a 5-3 win in the nightcap in Northfield, Minn.

Up Next:
The Cardinals are right back at Max Molock Field on Sunday, as SMU hosts Gustavus in a 1 p.m. conference twinbill. … St. Olaf is also back in action on Sunday, as the Oles head to St. Paul, Minn., for a 1 p.m. MIAC doubleheader against nationally ranked St. Thomas.
