SARTELL, Minn. — Blake Westerberg (Red Wing, Minn.) followed up an opening-round 79 with a six-over-par 78 Sunday, but the Blackberry Ridge Country Club got the better of the rest of the Saint Mary's University men's golf team, as the Cardinals settled for a 21st-place finish at the Saint John's Fall Invitational.

Westerberg, who has not posted a round higher than 79 all season, was the only Cardinal to break 80 on Sunday, as SMU settled for a 334 second-day total and a 658 36-hole score.

Nebraska Wesleyan shot a 595 (301-294) to win the 23-team tournament, while St. Cloud State turned in the best round on Sunday with a 292 and finished second at 599. UW-Eau Claire and first-round leader University of Manitoba finished tied for third at 602 and host Saint John's rounded out the top five with a 607.

Along with Westerberg's six-over 78 Sunday, the Cardinals got an 84 from Tim Wolford (Maple Grove, Minn.), an 85 from David Iten (Fridley, Minn.), an 87 from Trevor Erickson (Sparta, Wis.) and a 93 from Connor Brandt (Woodbury, Minn.)

Westerberg finished the two-day tournament with a 157 total, while Wolford — who notched a team-best 78 during Saturday's opening round — was five shots back at 162. Erickson went 81-87 for a 168, followed by Iten (90-85—175) and Brandt (86-93—179).

Firt-round leader Josh Wytinck of the University of Manitoba shot a second-day, two-over 74 to win medalist honors by one short over Jack Pexa of St. Cloud State. Wytinck finished with a one-under 143 36-hole effort, with Pexa gong 74-70 to finish at 144. Nebraska Weselyan's Rory Doll (73-72—145) was third, with the University of Manitoba's Charley Boyechko (74-73—147) and Tyler Koivisto of St. Cloud State (74-73) sharing the fourth-place spot.

The Cardinals are back in action next Sunday, traveling to Willinger's Golf Course in Northfield, Minn., for a dual against Carleton.
