NORTHFIELD, Minn. — In their final tune-up before the season-ending Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships, the Saint Mary's University men's golf team dropped a 326-328 decision to Carleton in a dual meet at Willingers Golf Course Sunday afternoon.

Tim Wolford (Maple Grove, Minn.) led the way for the Cardinals, shooting a seven-over-par 79, while Connor Brandt (Woodbury, Minn.) chipped in an 81 and Blake Westerberg (Red Wing, Minn.) tallied an 83. Trevor Erickson (Sparta, Wis.) and David Iten (Fridley, Minn.) rounded out the Cardinals' top five, carding scores of 85 and 96, respectively.

Thomas Garside (Vadnais Heights, Minn.) turned in the shot of the day for the Cardinals, as the freshman — who, along with Dylan Altendorf (Stanchfield, Minn.), was playing as an individuals in the dual meet — used a four-hybrid to record his first-ever hole-in-one, acing the 170-yard 17th hole. Garside finished with a 95, while Altendorf shot a 92.

The Cardinals are now off until Oct. 4-5-6, when they head to Bunker Hills Golf Course for the three-day, 54-hole conference championships.
