ST. PAUL, Minn. -Saint Mary's University of Minnesota baseball coach Nick Winecke would have loved to have had a do-over when it came to the 11th inning of his Cardinals' 11-10, 11-inning loss to Hamline Friday afternoon in the completion of their suspended Game 2.

And he'd love a do-over of the ninth inning of the Cardinals' second game against the Pipers on Friday.

Unfortunately, there are no do-overs in college baseball.

So the Cardinal head coach promises his team will do the next best thing -they'll bounce back.

"It was one of those days," Winecke said, after watching his Cardinals surrender two runs in the bottom of the 11th and ninth innings in falling to Hamline 11-10 and 7-6. "I thought we did a lot of good things today -we just couldn't seem to shut down (Hamline) when we needed to most.

"But that's baseball -and we'll learn from it and bounce back and be ready to go again (Saturday) against Concordia."

Still smarting from their 11-inning setback in the completion of their suspended game from April 2 -in which Saint Mary's plated one run in the top of the 11th, only to have Andy Sammon deliver a two-run single in the Pipers' half to seal the win -the Cardinals jumped out to a 6-2 advantage in the teams' nine-inning nonconference game, scoring single runs in the second, third, fifth and sixth, before adding two in the top of the eighth.

The lead didn't last long, however, as Hamline cut the deficit to one, 6-5, with a three-run eighth, then completed its second-straight come-from-behind win with a pair of runs in the ninth.

Buerkle finished with three hits - including his second inside-the-park home run of the season -while Doll and Barry each chipped in two hits. Barry also delivered three RBIs and Buerkle added two.

The Cardinals (7-7 MIAC, 11-21 overall) are back in action on Saturday, as Saint Mary's hosts Concordia in a 1 p.m. conference doubleheader at Max Molock Field.
