• April 21, 2014: The first inning could not have gone any better for Saint Mary's in its nine-inning nonconference game against Luther, as the Cardinals jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead. With their 7-2 Game 1 win over Saint John's on Saturday, the Cardinals have now won the first game in all three of their conference doubleheaders this season—and in eight of their nine twinbills overall. … With their two wins vs. Saint John's, Saint Mary's has now won six of its last eight games. … The Cardinals have not dropped back-to-back games this season, while putting together a pair of five-game winning streaks. … The Cardinals blasted five home runs in their sweep of Saint John's last Saturday.
