The Matchup:
• Saint Mary's Cardinals (9-7 MIAC | 24-10 Overall) vs. Bethel Royals (13-3 MIAC | 27-6 Overall)

Last Action:
• Saint Mary's: The Cardinals came up empty in its conference doubleheader against Concordia on Tuesday in Moorhead, Minn., as the Cobbers dealt Saint Mary's a 7-3 setback in Game 1, then completed the sweep with a 14-9 win in the nightcap | Recap
• Bethel: The Royals stepped out of conference play on Tuesday, cruising to a 5-0, 15-1 sweep of Marian in Fond du Lac, Wis. | Recap

Saint Mary's vs. Bethel—A Year Ago:
• May 4, 2014: Kevin Miley (St. Paul, Minn.) delivered a two-run, sixth-inning single to break a 1-1 tie, and a double dose of Ben—Ben Johnson (Brooklyn Park, Minn.) and Ben Dobosenski (Westmont, Ill.)—on the mound proved to be the perfect combination, as the Cardinals collected a 3-1 victory in Game 1 of the teams' MIAC doubleheader in Arden Hills, Minn. And the Cardinals had so much fun recording a two-run win in the opener, they decided to do it again in the nightcap, scoring four runs in the sixth inning to erase a 4-2 Bethel lead and lift Saint Mary's to a 6-4 victory | Recap
• May 9, 2014: After earning a third straight MIAC Tournament berth—thanks in part to some late-inning heroic in a sweep of Bethel a week earlier—the Cardinals were in dire need of some more of those late-game heroics in their conference playoff opener, staring at a five-run, 11-6 deficit heading into their final two at-bats against second-seeded Bethel. Unlike those regular-season victories, however, Saint Mary's late-game rally came up three runs short, as the Cardinals—leaving the tying run at the plate — fell to Bethel 11-8 | Recap
• May 10, 2014: After disposing of Saint John's 4-2 in a win-or-go-home showdown earlier in the day, the Cardinals got another shot at No. 2 seed Bethel in the second day of the MIAC Tournament. Unfortunately, the rematch ended in much the same way, as Bethel scored six unanswered runs—erasing an early, 2-0 first-inning Saint Mary's lead, and handing the Cardinals a season-ending 7-4 setback | Recap

MIAC Playoff Chase:
• The Cardinals head into Saturday's matchup with the Royals sitting in fifth place, one game behind Concordia and St. Thomas in the battle for one of the four MIAC Playoff berths. At least split against the Royals—and some outside help—will earn Saint Mary's its fourth straight post-season appearance. Bethel, meanwhile, has already locked up the No. 1 seed for the upcoming four-team conference tournament, and can win the regular-season title outright with one win against the Cardinals.
If the Cardinals sweep Bethel: With two wins over the Royals, Saint Mary's would also need St. Thomas to split or be swept in its DH against Augsburg on Sunday; or Concordia (vs. Carleton) or Saint John's (vs. Gustavus) must lose twice on Saturday.
If the Cardinals split vs. Bethel: With a 1-1 showing vs. the Royals, the Cardinals' lone hope of making post-season play would be if  St. Thomas is swept by Augsburg on Sunday.
