Saint Mary's at the 2015 MIAC Championships:
• Saint Mary's had its sights set on Oct. 31 since the season began back in late August. And it had nothing to do with Halloween or trick-or-treating. The Cardinals had circled that date on their calendars for one simple reason—they were eager to make little noise at the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships. Mission accomplished, as the Cardinal men—behind the 16
th-place effort of
Jovan Newsum (Glendale Heights, Ill.)—placed eighth, while the women finished 12

The 2015 Men's MIAC Championships In Review:
• St. Olaf continued its modern-day dynasty with another outstanding performance to run its current championship winning streak to four. Head coach Phil Lundin's squad became the seventh MIAC team to win four (or more) consecutive men's cross country conference titles, and the first since Saint John's reeled off four-straight from 1996 to 1999. The latest title saw the Oles finish with a team score of 34 to win by a margin of 96 points. Jake Campbell surged ahead over the second half of the race to claim the individual championship and continue another Ole streak. Grant Wintheiser graduated after winning three individual titles in a row, so Campbell's performance continued that legacy. He completed the course in 25:36.1, and led a wave that saw three St. Olaf runners finish in the top six and five in the top 12. Saint John's put together a tremendous team effort to finish as the runner-up with 96 points. Carleton was just three points behind the Johnnies with a score of 99, and St. Thomas (107) edged Gustavus (109) by two points for fourth, as the Tommies and Gusties rounded out the top five. Bethel's 160 points were good for sixth place and Hamline scored 194 to finish seventh. Saint Mary's (214), Macalester (228), Augsburg (255), and Concordia (329) rounded out the 2015 final team standings |

The 2015 Women's MIAC Championships In Review:
• The 2015 MIAC Women's Cross Country Championships treated fans to an exhilarating race, ending with Carleton capturing its third-straight MIAC Championship, emerging from a competitive field to claim another conference crown. Individually, Macalester junior star Kimber Meyer kicked it into high gear, pulling ahead of the other leaders over the second half of the race to claim the MIAC individual championship. Meyer, who finished second a year ago, completed the 6K course in 22:14.2. Defending champion Ruth Steinke of Carleton was neck-and-neck with Meyer midway through the race, but her bid to repeat ended with a 4th-place finish and a time of 22:49.1. Carleton's win made the Knights the first team to win three consecutive MIAC titles since St. Thomas accomplished the same feat from 2006 to 2008. Carleton's latest title came in dramatic fashion thanks to a stern test from the Tommies, as the Knights finished with 61 points to win by a margin of only 11 points. St. Thomas scored 72 points to earn a second-place finish and St. Olaf scored 97 to complete the top three. Saint Benedict was just 10 points behind the Oles with 107 in fourth place, and Macalester scored 129 to round out the top five. Gustavus scored an even 150 to claim sixth place. Concordia was in seventh with 192, Bethel scored 244 to finish eighth and Augsburg was in ninth with 261. Hamline (273) edged St. Catherine (275) by just two points for the final spot in the top 10, and Saint Mary's completed the standings with a score of 365 |
