ETTRCK, Wis. — The Saint Mary's University of Minnesota cross country teams are back in action on Saturday, traveling to Ettrick Golf Course to take part in the UW-La Crosse Jim Drews and Tori Neubauer Invitationals.
 
The Jim Drews Invitational Field:

Saint Mary's Last Action:
• September 29, 2017 * Mankato, Minn.: Danielle Franke (Mounds View, Minn.) took home individual honors in the women's race, outkicking UM-Morris' Katherine Novak to win the six-kilometer race in 25:01 and lead the Cardinals to a second-place team finish. Austin O'Hare (Rushford, Minn.), meanwhile, had a little "easier" time in the men's race, clocking an 8K time of 27:14—more than 33 seconds faster than runner-up Tyler Sassenberg of UM-Morris—as the Cardinals claimed the team title | Recap

• October 15, 2016 * Ettrick, Wis.: Jovan Newsum (Glendale Heights, Ill.) clocked an eight-kilometer time of 26:14 to finish 20th overall and lead the Cardinal men to a 17th-place showing at the Jim Drews Invitational, while Alyssa Thiel (Berlin, Wis.) led the way for the Saint Mary's women, posting her career-best 6K time in helping the Cardinals to a 22nd-place team finish at the Tori Neubauer Invitational | Recap

• The Cardinals are now off until Oct. 28, when they travel to Northfield, Minn., to take part in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships, hosted by St. Olaf.

• For the second time in as many meets, Austin O'Hare (Rushford, Minn.) and Danielle Franke (Mounds View, Minn.) led the way for the Cardinals at the Bethany Lutheran Invitational on Sept. 29. … O'Hare—who opened the year with a four-mile time of 21:47 at the season-opening Saint Mary's Alumni Open and followed that up with a team-best 26:48 8K time at the St. Olaf Invitational on Sept. 16—clocked an 8K time of 27:14 at the Bethany Lutheran Invitational to win the event by more than 33 seconds. … Franke, who posted a 5K time of 22:40 at the Saint Mary's Alumni Open and added a 6K time of 26:22, made it a Saint Mary's individual sweep, winning the women's event at the Bethany Lutheran Invitational with a time of 25:01. … Along with O'Hare's meet-winning Bethany Lutheran Invitational time, the Cardinals also received a fourth-place time of 28:00 from Brandon Krogman (Owatonna, Minn.), while Jordan Malikowski (Royalton, Minn.) finished seventh (28:30), Jonathon Meaden (Rosemount, Minn.) placed 10th (28:51), Ben Borash (Bowlus, Minn.) was 11th (28:51), and Isaiah Olsem (Fulda, Minn. / 29:14) and Tanner Moris (Crandon, Wis. / 29:23) added 15th- and 16th-place showings, respectively. … On the women's side at the Bethany Lutheran Invitational, Alyssa Thiel (Berlin, Wis.) was the second Cardinal across the finish line, clocking a time of 25:43 to place seventh, while Erika Theil (Burr Ridge, Ill. / 27:12), Emily Ortiz (Albert Lea, Minn. / 27:19), Alicia Berkenes (Buffalo, Minn./ 28:20), and Maddie Bollig (St. Croix Falls, Wis. / 30:21) rounded out the Cardinals' lineup. … O'Hare and Krogman were the second and third Cardinals across the finish line at last year's MIAC Championships, posting times of 27:18 and 27:29, respectively. … Franke posted a team-best 6K time of 24:45 in her first MIAC Championships a year ago. … Franke's 24:45 at the MIAC Championships was the fastest 6K time posted by a Cardinal last season.
