Jack McCormick (Milwaukee, Wis.) collected a pair of first-place finishes in his first collegiate meet—winning the 500 freestyle (5:18.96) and the 1,000 freestyle (10:48.62) to lead the Cardinal men to a dual-meet win over Iowa Lakes Community College and a loss to Gustavus last Saturday. …
Abby Hauser (Waukesha, Wis.) led the Cardinal women's charge in their season-opening double-dual last Saturday, finishing first in the 100 breaststroke (1:12.86) and second in both the 200 IM (2:23.29) and 100 backstroke (1:09.16), as Saint Mary's won its dual with ILCC and fell to Gustavus. … Along with his two first-place finishes, McCormick also chipped in a fourth in the 100 butterfly (1:00.97), while
Brian Mockler (Dubuque, Iowa) placed first in the 100 breaststroke (1:11.63) and fourth in the 50 freestyle (25.92), and
Jack Wells (Glenview, Ill.) delivered a first in the 100 freestyle (49.71) and a second in the 200 freestyle (1:56.26).
Griffin Rades (Shawano, Wis.) also had a big opening day, recording second-place times in both the 200 IM (2:06.58) and 100 backstroke (59.21). … On the women's side,
