Jovan Newsum (Glendale Heights, Ill.)?made his second NCAA?Division III?National Championships appearance in 2016, turning in the best eight-kilometer performance of his career—and the fastest time in program history—crossing the finish line in 24:14.0 to place 66th out of the field of nearly 280 competitors. … After back-to-back honorable-mention All-MIAC performances the previous two seasons, Newsum earned his first All-MIAC honor a year ago, posting an 8K time of 26:08 in placing third at the MIAC Championships on Oct. 28. … Newsum's third-place finish was the highest individual performance by a Cardinal runner—male or female—at the MIAC Championships. … In his last three races, Newsum posted season-best times of 26:14, 26:08, and 24:14. …
Austin O'Hare (Rushford, Minn.) and
Brandon Krogman (Owatonna, Minn.) were the second and third Cardinals across the finish line at the MIAC Championships a year ago, posting times of 27:18 and 27:29, respectively.
