NORTHFIELD, Minn. — The Saint Mary's University of Minnesota cross country teams are back in action on Saturday, traveling to St. Olaf to take part in the St. Olaf Invitational.

Austin O'Hare (Rushford, Minn.) and Danielle Franke (Mounds View, Minn.) kicked off their 2017 seasons in grand fashion, each placing second at the season-opening Saint Mary's Alumni Open on Sept. 2. O'Hare clocked a four-mile time of 21:47, while Franke toured the 5K women's course in a time of 22:40. … Alyssa Thiel (Berlin, Wis.) placed third individually at the Saint Mary's Open in Sept. 2, posting a time of 23:19, while Emily Ortiz (Albert Lea, Minn. / 24:17), Erika Thiel (Burr Ridge, Ill. / 25:06), Molly Sweet (Prescott, Wis. / 25:22), and Maddie Bollig (St. Croix Falls, Wis. / 28:04) rounded out the Cardinals' top six. … On the men's side, Brandon Krogman (Owatonna, Minn.) was the second Cardinal male across the finish line, stopping the clock in 22:38 to place fourth overall at the Saint Mary's Alumni Open on Sept. 2. Ben Borash (Bowlus, Minn. / 23:33), Jordan Malikowski (Royalton, Minn., / 23:42), Tanner Moris (Crandon, Wis. / 23:52), Jonathon Meaden (Rosemount, Minn. / 24:13), and Isaiah Olsem (Fulda, Minn. / 24:31) rounded out Saint Mary's top seven. … O'Hare and Krogman were the second and third Cardinals across the finish line at last year's MIAC Championships, posting times of 27:18 and 27:29, respectively. … Franke posted a team-best 6K time of 24:45 in her first MIAC Championships a year ago. … Franke's 24:45 at the MIAC Championships was the fastest 6K time posted by a Cardinal last season.
