ST. PAUL, Minn. — There was no rest for the Saint Mary's University of Minnesota swimming and diving teams.

Less than 24 hours after hosting St. Norbert in a pair of dual meets at the Jul Gernes Pool, the Cardinals were back in the water Saturday afternoon, taking part in the Hamline Invitational.

And the Cardinals showed absolutely no signs of fatigue.

Griffin Rades (Shawano, Wis.) — who collected a pair of firsts in Friday's dual against the Green Knights — matched that double-first-place effort Saturday, while also adding a third-place finish to lead the Saint Mary's men to a second-place team finish.

Brooke Shefchik (Stevens Point, Wis.) and Kierra Walske (Rochester, Minn.) posted team-best third-place showings to lead the Saint Mary's women to a second in the team standings.

Rades clocked a time of 2:06.36 in winning the 200 IM and added a first-place time of 5:20.68 in the 500 freestyle, while adding a 1:06.61 to finish third in the 100 breaststroke.

Jack Wells (Glenview, Ill.) and Nick Sawchuk (Rochester, Minn.) finished second (138.75) and third (104.55) in the one-meter diving, respectively, with Casey Hanson (Grand Rapids, Minn.) and Cole Stepanovich (St. Francis, Wis.) delivering seconds in the 200 freestyle (2:10.90) and 100 butterfly (58.43).

Along with his effort in the 200 freestyle, Hanson also posted a third in the 100 backstroke (1:14.64), and Darren Anes Dy Quiangco (Rochester, Minn.) capped a busy day with thirds in the 100 butterfly (1:00.74) and 50 freestyle (23.90) and a fourth in the 100 breaststroke (1:08.15). Alex Morrow (Stevens Point, Wis.) chipped in a third in the 500 freestyle (5:38.38), and teamed with Rades, Anes Dy Quiangco, and Stepanovich to place second in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:48.54.

Shefchik — coming off posting the third-fastest 1,000 freestyle time in program history on Friday — picked up where she left off on Saturday, placing third in the 1,000 (11:48.51), fourth in the 500 freestyle (5:48.36), and sixth in the 200 IM (2:31.33).

Walske delivered her third-place showing in the three-meter diving (159.45) and added a fourth in the one-meter (152.45). Erica Camarato (DeForest, Wis.) chipped in a fourth in the 100 breaststroke (1:20.16), with Katie Beitz (Blaine, Minn.) adding fifths in the 200 freestyle (2:19.91) and 100 freestyle (1:01.82), and Emme Quandt (Shawano, Wis.) notching a fifth in the 100 butterfly (1:11.22).

The Cardinals are back in action next Saturday, returning to St. Paul, Minn., to take part in the Macalester Invitational.
