ST. PAUL, Minn. — After kicking off the season in their home pool, the Saint Mary's University swim teams hit the on Saturday, heading to Hamline to take part in the Hamline Invitational. First event kicks off at 1 p.m.

The Cardinals' Last Action:

The Cardinals at Hamline Invitational — Their Last Appearance:
• November 3, 2018 * St. Paul, Minn.: Griffin Rades (Shawano, Wis.) — who collected a pair of firsts in Friday's dual against St. Norbert — matched that double-first-place effort Saturday, while also adding a third-place finish to lead the Saint Mary's men to a second-place team finish. Brooke Shefchik (Stevens Point, Wis.) and Kierra Walske (Rochester, Minn.) posted team-best third-place showings to lead the Saint Mary's women to a second in the team standings | Recap
 
The Cardinals' Up Next:
• The Cardinals return home to the Jul Gernes Pool next weekend. Both teams will square off in a dual against St. Norbert on Friday at 4:30 p.m., before the Cardinal women return to the pool on Saturday, facing SW Minnesota State in a 1 p.m. dual.

Brooke Shefchik (Stevens Point, Wis.) dominated the distance freestyle events for the Cardinal women's swim team during its dual against Concordia and double-dual vs. the Cobbers and Iowa Lakes Community College last weekend. Shefchik picked up first-place finishes in the 1000 freestyle (11:53.49) and 500 freestyle (5:54.54) against Concordia last Friday, then completed the sweep of the two events the following afternoon, touching the wall in 11:38.19 to win the 1000 freestyle and adding a first-place time of 5:46.95 in the 500 free. … Katie Domack (Lakeville, Minn. / 100 butterfly, 2:35.50) also posted a first-place finish for the Cardinal women during their season-opening duals. … Brennen McClay (Shakopee, Minn.) picked up the Cardinals' two first-place showings, stopping the clock in 22.87 to win the 50 freestyle and posting a time of 49.98 to win the 100 freestyle. … Shefchik had a hand in three school records at the season-ending MIAC Championships a year ago. Shefchik touched the wall in 5:32.44 in the 500 freestyle, breaking the 15-year-old school record of 5:35.84, set by Heidi Andre in 2014. In the 400 IM, shaved three seconds off Linda Tierney's seven-year-old mark — touching the wall in 5:00.89. She also teamed with Ashlyn Seifert (Austin, Texas), Katie Beitz (Blaine, Minn.), and Claire King (Red Wing, Minn.) team to post a time of 8:30.88, breaking the old school mark of 8:32.71, set in 2017. …
