• September 20, 2019 * South Bend, Ind.: Jordan Malikowski (Royalton, Minn.) and Danielle Franke (Mounds View, Minn.) turned in the Cardinals' best times of the afternoon, as the Saint Mary's men's placed 14th and the women were 20th at the National Catholic Invitational, hosted by Notre Dame. • Jordan Malikowski (Royalton, Minn.) clocked an eight-kilometer time of 28:56 to pace the Cardinal men at the National Catholic Invitational on Sept. 20, while Danielle Franke (Mounds View, Minn.) stopped the clock with a 5K time of 21:04 to lead the way for the Saint Mary's women. … Franke has now been the Cardinal women's top finisher in each of their two meets this season — the senior placed seventh overall with a 5K time of 21:43 at the season-opening Saint Mary's Alumni Open on Sept. 7. … Franke has now led the Cardinal women in 11 of the team's last 13 meets over the past three seasons. … Isaiah Olsem (Fulda, Minn.) placed fifth overall with a four-mile time of 22:21 in leading the Cardinal men to a second-place team finish at the Saint Mary's Alumni Open on Sept. 7. … Olsem has led the Cardinal men across the finish line in five of their last seven meets. … Along with Malikowski's team-leading 28:56 at the National Catholic Invitational on Sept. 20, the Cardinals also got a 29:34 from Jon Meaden (Rosemount, Minn.), a 29:41 from Caedon McCartney (Owatonna, Minn.), a 29:56 from Tanner Moris (Crandon, Wis.), and a 30:15 from Axel Daood (St. Charles, Minn.). … Anna Marinc (Carol Stream, Ill.) was the second Saint Mary's female across the finish line at the National Catholic Invitational, clocking a time of 22:20, followed by Anna Swanson (Osceola, Wis. / 22:36), Madalyn Bollig (St. Croix Falls, Wis. / 24:20), Emma Ririe (Dairen, Ill. / 24:50), Julia VanWatermeulen (Ellsworth, Wis. / 25:35), and Rachel Simon (Foley, Minn. / 29:40). … Franke's time of 24:27.48 at the NCAA Central Region a year ago was a season- and career-best — and the 10th fastest 6K time in program history. …  Marinc recorded a career-best 6K time of 25:02 to lead the Saint Mary's women to a 10th-place finish at last season's Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships. … Malikowski posted his career-best eight-kilometer time in the final meet of the 2018 season, clocking a time of 27:02.3 to pace the Cardinal men to a 23rd-place finish at the season-ending NCAA Central Regional. … Malikowski's time was not only a career-best, but also the fastest 8K time by a Cardinal in 2018.
