WINONA, Minn. — The Saint Mary's University women's swim team turned in plenty of stellar performances Friday evening in its nonconference dual against UM-Morris — the Cougars' depth, however, just proved to be too much.
Mara Caples (Rochester, Minn.) and
Brooke Shefchik (Stevens Point, Wis.) each posted first- and second-place times, while
Claire King (Red Wing, Minn.),
Ashlyn Seifert (Austin, Texas), and
Erica Camarato (DeForest, Wis.) added second-place performances in the Cardinals' 150-84 loss to UM-Morris at the Jul Gernes Pool.
Caples won the 100 butterfly (1:05.42) and placed second in the 200 freestyle (2:12.71), with Shefchik recording a first in the 500 freestyle (5:53.57) and a second in the 1,650 freestyle (19:39.38).
Camarato delivered seconds in both the 200 IM (2:35.45) and 100 breaststroke (1:20.71), while King was second in the 500 freestyle (6:00.05) and third in the 200 freestyle (2:15.97), and Seifert added a second in the 100 freestyle (1:00.63) and a third in the 50 freestyle (28.31).
The Cardinals are right back in the Jul Gernes Pool on Saturday, as the Cardinal women square off against both UM-Morris and Ripon in a pair of duals, while the Saint Mary's men face Ripon in a nonconference dual.
