Massimo leads Cardinals at Wartburg

WAVERLY, Iowa — Jessica Massimo (Kenosha, Wis.) closed out the fall portion of the schedule as the scoring leader for the Saint Mary's University of Minnesota women's golf team.
 
And the Cardinal freshman picked up right where she left off to open the spring season.
 
Massimo posted back-to-back put together back-to-back rounds of 92-92 to lead the Cardinals at the 36-hole Wartburg Spring Invitational, which concluded Sunday at Prairie Links Golf Course.
 
Along with Massimo's 184, Annika Blesener (North St. Paul, Minn.) posted a 105-106—211 and Megan Larson (Galesville, Wis.) added a 118-100—218.
 
Carleton won the eight-team tournament with a 629 (322-307), followed by Central-Iowa 348-339—687), Wartburg (342-348—690), Viterbo (352-365—717), and Luther (368-356—724). The Cardinals only had three golfers compete on the weekend and did not figure in the team standings.
 
Saint Mary's is back in action on April 27-28, heading to The Jewel in Lake City, Minn., for the 36-hole Saint Mary's Invitational.
