BECKER, Minn. — The Saint Mary's University women's golf team closes out its season beginning Saturday, taking part in the 54-hole Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships at Pebble Creek Golf Course.

2018 MIAC Championships Recap:
• September 29-30/October 1, 2018 * Pebble Creek Golf Course * Becker, Minn.: The nation's No. 1-ranked team played like it at the 2018 MIAC Championships, as Carleton claimed its second straight conference title by setting a new 54-hole tournament record with a 904, shattering the previous mark set at last year's meet by 20 strokes. The Knights secured the top five individual finishers in the tournament, marking the first time in recorded conference history that the top-five women's golfers all hailed from the same institution. Saint Benedict finished in second place with a total of 970 shots, followed by Gustavus Adolphus in third with 971, St. Catherine in fourth with 985, and St. Olaf College in fifth with 1004. Bethel landed in sixth with 1013, followed by Macalester in seventh with 1048, St. Thomas in eighth with 1071 and Concordia in ninth with 1075. • For the fourth tournament in a row, Jessica Massimo (Kenosha, Wis.) turned in the Cardinals' best 36-hole performance last weekend at the Luther Invitational. Massimo opened with an 87 and followed that up with an 86 for a career-best 173 36-hole total — and a seventh-place finish individually. … Massimo's second-round 86 at the Luther Invitational was just two shots off her career best 84, recorded during the second round of the Saint Mary's Invitational on Sept. 15. … Massimo has now recorded four rounds of 89 or better this season and eight times during her collegiate career. … Madyson Ulrey (North Manchester, Minn.) chipped in a second-round 90 for a 185 total at last weekend's Luther Invitational, followed by Celeste Van Klein (Lake City, Minn. / 93-92—185), Dani Stevens (Delano, Minn. / 93-99 / 192), and Cassie Sepp (Duluth, Minn. / 109-109 / 218). … Celeste Van Klein (Lake City, Minn.) shot the low round of the tournament for the Cardinals at the Twin Ports Challenge on Aug. 31, shooting a career-low 87 during the second round. … Massimo heads into the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships with a team-leading 89.88 scoring average, followed by Van Klein (95.75) and Ulrey (97.50). … As a team, Saint Mary's posted a season-best 364 during the second round of the Twin Ports Collegiate on Aug. 31. … The Cardinals' 368-367—735 at the Luther Invitational was the lowest 36-hole team score in coach Steve Randgaard's three-year tenure — and their lowest since posting a 735 at the D3 Classic on Sept. 17-18, 2016.
