WINONA, Minn. — The Saint Mary's University of Minnesota baseball team is partnering with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS) for the fourth time in as many years for "Strike Out Cancer Day."
"Strike Out Cancer Day" will be held on Sunday, May 5, at Max Molock Field as part of the Cardinals' nonconference doubleheader against Coe College. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
Donations can be made throughout the game, or supporters can fill out a pledge sheet to pay an amount of their choice for every strike out a Cardinal pitcher throws that day. A donation table will be set up at the field during both games of the doubleheader for those who would like to donate. You can also make a donation online at

All proceeds from the games will be directly donated to LLS for the fight against cancer and will help raise awareness about lymphoma, leukemia and other cancers.
John Heim, a senior pitcher who helped run the event last year, is excited for its return, "It's always good coming together, playing the game we love for a good cause," he said. "Any chance to help fight this disease is always something people can get behind."
