DULUTH, Minn. — The Saint Mary's University of Minnesota women's golf team kicks off the 2019 season on the road this weekend, taking part in the 36-hole Twin Ports Collegiate Tournament, hosted by St. Scholastica and UW-Superior. The Cardinals head to Lester Park Golf Course in Duluth, Minn., on Friday, and Nemadji Golf Course in Superior, Wis., on Saturday

• Jessica Massimo (Kenosha, Wis.), who led the way for the Cardinals at the 2018 MIAC Championships — carding rounds of 97-100-91—288 — picked up right where she left off in the spring portion of the schedule a year ago, recording back-to-back 92s at the Wartburg Spring Invitational on April 13-14. … Massimo closed out her freshman season having posted the team's low score in 11 of their 15 competitive rounds. … Massimo boasted a team-leading 92.67 scoring average. … Massimo opened her collegiate career with an 89 at the Mac/Mary Dual on Aug. 31, and followed that up with rounds of 88 and 86 at the 36-hole Saint Benedict Invitational on Sept. 1-2. … Michaela Heuckendorf (Plymouth, Minn. / 100.00 avg.) posted a team- and career-best round of 83 at the 2018 MIAC Championships, six shots better than her previous career low. … Megan Larson (Galesville, Wis. / 103.20 avg.) — who posted rounds of 118-100 at the Wartburg Spring Invitational — carded a career-best 93 during the second round of the Wartburg Fall Invitational on Sept. 9. … Annika Blesener (North St. Paul, Minn.) ended the year with a 105.23 scoring average. … Saint Mary's posted its low score of the season during the third round of the 2018 MIAC Championships, posting a 373, four shots better than the second-round 377 the Cardinals shot at the Wartburg Fall Invitational.
