WINONA, Minn. — It was the final home meet of the season for the Saint Mary's University swim teams — and the Cardinals did not disappoint.

The Cardinal women collected four first-place finishes and five seconds in splitting their duals against Hamline and Augsburg — beating the Auggies 96-38, while falling to the Pipers 132-56.

The Saint Mary's men, meanwhile, picked up a pair of firsts from Brennen McClay (Shakopee, Minn.) in a 123-21 loss to the visiting Pipers.

Brooke Shefchik (Stevens Point, Wis.) led the way for the Saint Mary's women, winning both the 500 freestyle (5:50.13) and 1000 freestyle (11:57.67), while Katie Beitz (Blaine, Minn.) posted a first in the 200 freestyle (2:15.19) and a second in the 100 freestyle (1:02.69). Erica Camarato (DeForest, Wis.) chipped in second-place efforts in both the 200 IM (2:38.51) and 200 breaststroke (1:18.17), and Ashlyn Seifert (Austin, Texas) notched a second in the 50 freestyle and a third in the 100 butterfly (1:13.07). Claire King (Red Wing, Minn.) delivered a third in the 100 backstroke (1:14.53) and Dakota Becerra (Yorba Linda, Calif.) notched a fourth in the one-meter diving (111.10).

The women's 200 freestyle relay team recorded the Cardinals' other first, as Beitz, King, Becerra, and Shefchik posted a time of 1:55.12, with King, Camarato, Seifert, and Becerra delivering a second-place time of 2:13.44 in the 200 medley relay

McClay touched the wall in 1:51.40 to win the 200 freestyle, while notching a time of 49.11 in winning the 100 freestyle, while Darren Anes Dy Quiangco (Rochester, Minn.) chipped in third-place times of 1:00.38 and 1:07.65, respectively, in the 100 butterfly and 100 breaststroke.

The Cardinals are now off until Feb. 14-18, when they head to the U of M Aquatic Center in Minneapolis, Minn., to take part in the four-day, season-ending MIAC Championships.
