WINONA, Minn. — The academic post-season honors continued for
Kristjan Meitz (Waukesha, Wis.),
Kevin Gleason (Minneapolis, Minn.), and
Sawyer Rosner (Phelps, Wis.), as the trio — coming off earning Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference All-Academic Team honors earlier this summer — were among five Saint Mary's University men's basketball players on the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) 2019-20 Honors Court, it was announced Wednesday.
It was the second straight NABC honor for Meitz and Gleason, while Rosner,
Brady Stevens (St. James, Minn.), and
Tyler Engel (Edgar, Wis.) were named to the Honors Court — which recognized more than 1,350 men's collegiate basketball student-athletes for their work in the classroom, as well as on the basketball court — for the first time.
In order to be named to the Honors Court, a student-athlete must meet a high standard of academic criteria. Award winners must be a junior or senior with a cumulative grade-point-average of 3.20 or higher at the end of the 2018-19 academic year, have completed at least one year at their current institution, and be a member of an NCAA Division I, II, III, or NAIA Division I or II institution with an NABC member coach.
The NABC Honors Court selections are just the latest academic honor for the Cardinals. In early July four Cardinals were named to the MIAC All-Academic Team.
