ST. PETER, Minn. — Conditions were far from ideal Saturday afternoon at Gustavus' Lee Krough Invitational — but that certainly didn't deter the Saint Mary's University track and field teams from turning in yet another stellar outdoor performance.

The Cardinals posted a combined 10 first-place finishes — including a pair of individual titles and a relay title for Matt Boone — and boasted 21 Top 3 performances at the non-team-scored event.

Boone has dominated the sprints this season, and Saturday was no different, as the senior won the 100 (11.40) and the 200 (22.67), while joining Noah Anderson, Garrett Jackson, and Kyle Lichttenegger to win the 4x100 with a time of 41.72.

Along with his spot on the 4x100 relay, Lichttenegger also won the long jump (6.47 meters), while Sean Curran delivered a first in the hammer (51.07m) and Coleton Strupp cleared 4.00m to win the pole vault. Jon Meaden chipped in a third-place effort of 4:05.43 in the 1,500 for the SMU men.

On the women's side. Sydney Klausler and Caroline Gearin posted first-place individual efforts — Klausler in the long jump (5.11m) and Gearin in the 400 (59.50) — while Rachel Ohde won the high jump (1.60m) and Anna Swanson posted the top throw in the javelin (33.75m).

Along with the her first-place effort, Klausler also added a second in the 200 (27.03) and teamed with Gearin, Nathalie Friere and Alicia Schurrer to place second in the 4x100 relay (52.40). Amanda Tuvey delivered a second-place time of 12:36.44 in the steeplechase, and Bailey Joens added a second in the high jump (1.55m) and a third in the 100 hurdles (17.97). Mirijana Ganley notched a third in the 200 (27.85) and Samantha Kubes threw her way to third-place finishes in both the shot put (10.31m) and hammer throw (35.09m).

The Cardinals are back in action, and back on the road, next Saturday, heading to St. Paul, Minn., to take part in the Hamline Invitational.
