NEW ORLEANS, La. – After a memorable outdoor season on the women's side of the Saint Mary's track and field program, five Cardinals earned United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Region IX nods.
The top-eight individuals in each event from each region: East, Great Lakes, Metro, Mid-Atlantic, Mideast, Midwest, Niagara, North, South, and West, on the year-end Athletic.net Descending Order Lists earn All-Region distinction, in addition to each member of the region's top-eight relay teams.
Mya Slavin, the lone Cardinal to compete at Outdoor Nationals yesterday, earned back-to-back honors, this time in two separate events. After earning second team All-American honors for placing 12th at nationals in the 800-meter with a personal best 2:10.49 mark, Slavin earned All-Region honors in both the 800-meter and 1500-meters.
It was the 4x100 women's relay that notched the other four Cardinals All-Region bids.
McKenzie Munson, Samantha Munson, Jossy Saamanen, and Zari Young each earned the All-Region honors with their impressive 47.43 time.Â
