  SAINT MARY'S CARDINALS SCOUTING REPORT
• OPENING WITH A 'W': The Cardinals kicked off the 2021 season on a high note, scoring single goals in both the first and second halves en route to a 2-0 win over UW-Superior Wednesday.
• CAREER FIRSTS: Haddy Falkman (Waconia, Minn.) and Brooklyn McKinney (Thornton, Colo.) scored the Cardinals' two goals in their season-opening win over UW-Superior Wednesday. It was the first collegiate goal for both.
• FIRST OF THE SEASON: Falkman's goal in the fifth minute against UW-Superior Wednesday was the Cardinals' first of the season.
• LENDING A HELPING HAND: Along with her first-half goal, Falkman also assisted on Brooklyn McKinney's second-half tally en route to her first career three-point game.
• THE BRICK WALL: Alexis Nguyen (West Corvina, Calif.) recorded her second career shutout, stopping the lone shot she faced in Wednesday's 2-0 win over UW-Superior. Nguyen tallied her first collegiate shutout with a two-save effort against Gustavus on May 2, 2021.
• TOTAL DOMINATION: The Cardinals outshot UW-Superior 18-2 on Wednesday — including
8-1 in shots on goal. Mikayla McCart (Council Bluffs, Iowa) led the way for SMU with five shots, one more than both McKinney and Jordyn Matthews (Seattle, Wash.). McKinney owned a team-best four shots on goal vs. the Yellowjackets.
• ROAD WARRIORS: Saturday's game at Coe marks the sixth time  in the last eight contests the Cardinals have played on the road. Saint Mary's is 3-1-1 in its last five road contests.
• 2020 RECAP: The Cardinals closed out their first year under coach Nick Rizzo with a 3-2-1 record during the pandemic-shortened, fall-to-spring 2021 season.
 COE KOHAWKS SCOUTING REPORT
• FIT TO BE TIED: The Kohawks scored just 1:47 into the first half of its season-opener against St. Olaf on Wednesday, but surrendered the game-tying goal 36 minutes later, as Coe battled the Oles to a 1-1, overtime deadlock.
• HOME SWEET HOME: Saturday's game against Coe is the second of three straight home contests to open the season for the Kohawks, who did not record a win in four home contests during the pandemic-shortened 2020 season.
• QIUCK STRIKE: Lauren Dufoe scored Coe's first goal of the season less than two minutes into Wednesday's 1-1 deadlock against St. Olaf. It was the second goal in as many games for Dufoe, who scored once in Coe's season-ending 9-1 win over Buena Vista on April 24, 2021.
BETWEEN THE PIPES: Alex Montalbano played all 110 minutes in goal for the Kohawks against St. Olaf Wednesday, finishing with six saves. Montalbano closed out 2020 with a 4.56 goals-against-average and a .646 save percentage, while finishing with 31 saves.
• NUMBERS DO LIE: Despite being outshot 17-4 — including 7-3 in shots on goal — the Kohawks still managed to battle St. Olaf to a 1-1 tie in their nonconference season-opener.
