ARDEN HILLS, Minn. — For the Saint Mary's University men's soccer team, the search continues.
Â
The Cardinals headed into Saturday's Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference game against Bethel in dire need of an offensive boost.
Â
Unfortunately, when the Cardinals left the field at Ona Orth Athletic Complex, their offense was still MIA, as Bethel netted the game's only goal in dealing Saint Mary's a 1-0 setback.
Â
Bethel struck for what proved to be the game's only goal late in the first half, as Youssef Abdallah rifled a shot that eluded Saint Mary's goalkeeper
Daniel Sessler (Brookfield, Minn.) and nestled into the upper left-hand corner of the net with less than three minutes to play before halftime.
Â
That would be the only Royal shot to elude the Cardinal junior, but at the other end, Bethel's Juan Valdivia Cortes did Sessler one better, stopping all three SMU shots he faced in recording the shutout.
Â
Saint Mary's (0-6-1 MIAC, 3-8-3 overall) are back in action on Tuesday, when they step out of conference play for a 6 p.m. showdown against the University of Dubuque at Ochrymowycz Field
