DES MOINES, Iowa — For the second time this season,
Anna Swanson (Osceola, Wis.) found herself toeing the line in the javelin throw against competitors from all three NCAA divisions.
Â
And for the second time this season, the Saint Mary's University junior more than held her own.
Â
Swanson delivered a throw of 38.73 meters to place 13th in the javelin at the Drake Relays Friday afternoon. Swanson's effort was the second-best among NCAA Division III competitors behind St. Catherine's Bryanna Leverentz, who was 10th with a throw of 39.78 meters.
Â
Nebraska's Maddie Harris won the event with a mark of 50.29 meters to easily outdistance teammate Mirta Kulisic, who owned a second-place throw of 48.64 meters.
Â
Swanson and the Cardinals are back in action on Wednesday, when they head to St. Paul, Minn., for the St. Thomas Tommie Twlight — their last tune-up before the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships, hosted by SMU, on May 13-14.
