WINONA, Minn. — On Wednesday, the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced its All-Academic Awards, and both Cardinal teams — as well as a trio of student-athletes — collected all-academic honors.
The Saint Mary's women's track and field team, which boasted a combined, cumulative 3.65 grade-point-average, was among 150 Division III programs recognized for team GPAs above a 3.10, while the Cardinal men's squad also made the grade with a cumulative GPA of 3.30.
Individually, two members of the Cardinal women's team —
Anna Swanson (Osceola, Wis.) and
Caroline Gearin (Osceola, Wis.) — and
Sean Curran (Appleton, Wis.) of the men's team landed individual academic honors, compiling cumulative GPAs above a 3.30 and having finished the outdoor season among the top 50 individuals as listed on the descending order lists on TFRRS. In addition, any athletes not among the top 50, but who participated at the Indoor or Outdoor National Championships,
Overall, there were more than 500 student-athletes who were named All-Academic Athletes in NCAA Division III.
The USTFCCCA accolades were the latest academic honors for Swanson, Gearin, and Curran, who were all named Academic All-MIAC in late June.
