ST. PAUL, Minn. —
Caroline Gearin (Osceola, Wis.) kicked off the two-day Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Indoor Championships in style, as the Saint Mary's University junior posted an all-conference performance in the pole vault to lead the way for the Cardinals Saturday at Macalester College.
Gearin collected All-MIAC honors in pole vault, clearing 3.30 meters to place second in the pole vault in pacing the Cardinals during Day 1 of the two-day championships.
In the women's weight throw,
Anna Becker (Cannon Falls, Minn.) led a trio of Cardinals, placing 13th with a toss of 13.45 meters, edging out teammates
Samantha Kubes (New Prague, Minn.), who finished 14th with a mark of 13.39m, and
Morgan Wallendal's (Fond du Lac, Wis.) 16th-place toss of 12.95m, and the distance medley team of
Caeli McMahon (Holmen, Wis.),
Abrianna Utgaard (Star Prairie, Minn.),
Emily Kern (Buffalo, Minn.), and
Abbie Meyer (Sauk Centre, Minn.) finished seventh with a time of 13.31.16
On the men's side,
Chris Bulwa (Glenview, Ill.) raced to a time of 51.06 to place ninth in the 400, while
Granton Schneider (Moorhead, Minn.), Casen Fritz (Minnesota City, Wis.), and
Antonio Cisewski (Custer, Wis.) chipped in 13th-place showings in the 800 (2:00.78), weight throw (13.62m), and long jump (5.92m) respectively, and Ben Kritsberg (Rosemount, Minn.) added a 14th in the 60 (7.26).
The Cardinals close out the two-day MIAC Indoor Championships on Sunday at Macalester College in St. Paul, Minn., with field events set to start at 10:15 a.m. and running events slated for 1 p.m.
