• 1: Goalie Celeste Rimstad (Richfield, Minn.) collected her first collegiate assist, getting one of the two helpers on Sophia Paduano’s first-period goal in the SMU women’s hockey team’s 5-1 win over Saint Benedict last Friday.
• 2: Colin Tushie (Prior Lake, Minn.) scored two goals — the first and the last — in the SMU men’s hockey team’s 5-3 win over Saint John’s last Thursday. Tushie has now recorded three multiple-goal games this season having also netted three goals against St. Olaf on Jan. 12 and a pair of tallies against Gustavus on Dec. 1.
• 3: Celia Midtbo (Minneapolis, Minn.) scored three goals — all on the power play — in leading the Cardinal women’s hockey team to a 5-1 MIAC win over Saint Benedict last Friday. The hat trick was the first of Midtbo’s collegiate career.
• 3: The Saint Mary’s men’s tennis team had three of its six singles matches against Loras last Friday go to a third-set super-breaker. SMU went 1-2 in those three matches in falling to the Duhawks 6-3.
• 3: Bud Winter (St. Louis, Mo.) scored one of the SMU men’s hockey team’s two goals in last Saturday’s 4-2 loss to Saint john’s, giving the Cardinal senior one goal in each of SMU’s last three games.
• 3: Three of the SMU women’s tennis team’s six singles matches against Northwestern last Saturday went to a third set, with Natalie Peterson (St. Cloud, Minn.) and Kathryn Stiegel (Sauk Rapids, Minn.) coming away with three-set wins in the Cardinals’ 5-4 loss to the Eagles.
• 5: Five of the Cardinals’ 12 singles matches last weekend were extended to a third-set super-breaker, with SMU going 2-3 in those five contests. Caden Rodning (Mason City, Iowa) played two of those five three-setters, with Evan Huemoeller (Owatonna, Minn.), Tucker Stene (Fridley, Minn.), and Matt Besek played the others.
• 5-4: The SMU women’s tennis team had its season-opening two-match winning streak snapped last Saturday, falling to Northwestern in a 5-4 nailbiter.
• 9: The SMU women’s hockey team had its nine-game winning streak — the program’s longest since winning 10 in a row during the 2001-02 season — snapped with last Saturday’s 2-1 loss to Saint Benedict.
• 14 + 10 = 1: Khai Branham (Bemidji, Minn.) recorded career-highs of 14 points and 10 rebounds en route to his first collegiate double-double in the SMU men’s basketball team’s 72-69 win over Macalester last Saturday.
• 16: Grace Schaffer (Farmington, Minn.) netted a team-high 16 points in the Cardinal women’s basketball team’s 67-60 loss to Macalester last Saturday.
• 16: With their 5-1 win over Saint Benedict last Friday, the SMU women’s hockey team reached 16 wins for the first time since the 2001-02 season, when Saint Mary’s compiled a 21-6-1 record.
• 18: The SMU track and field teams combined to post 18 Top 5 finishes — including a pair of event winners — at last Saturday’s Luther Invitational. Chris Bulwa (Glenview, Ill.) and Samantha Kubes (New Prague, Minn.) led the way for the Cardinals, with Bulwa winning the men’s 200, stopping the clock in 22.72, while Kubes won the women’s weight throw with a mark of 15.94 meters.
• 20: Jabari Sawyer (Chicago, Ill.) posted his second straight 20+ performance last Wednesday in the Cardinal men’s basketball team’s 72-58 loss to Concordia, scoring a team-best 20 points.
• 41: A.J. Ruskowski (Traverse City, Mich.) kicked out a season-high 41 shots in the Cardinal men’s hockey team’s 5-3 victory over Saint John’s last Thursday. The 41 saves two shy of the junior’s career high.
