WINONA, Minn. — For the second year in a row,
Owen Ziegler (Mount Horeb, Wis.) of the Saint Mary's University men's basketball team earned College Sports Communicators Academic All-District® honors, it was announced Tuesday.
The 2023-24 Academic All-District® Men's Basketball Team, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.
Athletes must carry a 3.50 grade-point-average on a 4.0 scale, have competed in 90 percent of the institution's games OR must have started in at least 66 percent of the games, and made a significant on-field contribution to be eligible.
A Finance / Business Intelligence & Analytics double-major, Ziegler carries a 4.00 cumulative GPA in the classroom, while sporting a 9.3 ppg scoring average during his senior campaign. Ziegler, who matched his career-high with 32 points against Augsburg on Feb. 7, finished the year with a team-leading 63 3-pointers and closed out his four-year career with a program-record 193 3-pointers.
Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in early April.
