WINONA, Minn. — Saint Mary's
Cameron Weber (Holmen, Wis.) stole the show for the Saint Mary's University baseball team last week — literally.
Â
The Cardinal senior racked up nine stolen bases — including a single-game, program-record four in Game 1 of a seven-stolen-base afternoon in SMU's sweep of Carleton last Friday — in leading SMU to a 3-1 showing in its four games last week.
Â
Add to that a .471 batting average and .529 slugging percentage, it should come as no surprise that the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference tabbed Weber the MIAC Player of the Week when the league office handed out its weekly awards on Monday.
Â
Weber began his week by terrorizing Carleton, going a combined 4-for-8 with five runs scored, along with the aforementioned seven stolen bases in helping SMU to a 22-2, 9-3 sweep of the Knights.
Â
A day later, Weber was at it again, cranking out four hits in nine at-bats, while driving in four and stealing another two bases in the Cardinals' split against Macalester.
Â
Weber ended the week going 8-for-17 with a double, eight runs scored, six RBIs and a .529 slugging percentage — to go along with a nine steals in 10 attempts o the base paths.
Â
Weber and the Cardinals (5-1 MIAC, 12-8 overall) are back in action on Tuesday, when they welcome Augsburg to Max Molock Field for a 2:30 p.m. MIAC doubleheader.
