WINONA, Minn. - The track season has arrived at Saint Mary's University, and excitement is building in the fieldhouse! The Cardinals have been training all year, alternating between the outdoor track for their reps and in the Gostomski Fieldhouse, where they hosted the SMU Alumni Track and Field Meet to kick things off.Â

Darren Schneider has unveiled the team's schedule for the 2025 season.

The Cardinals kick off the season on January 18th in Northfield at the Ole Opener, hosted by St. Olaf. Afterward, the team will return to St. Olaf for the St. Olaf Invitational & Multi that next weekend.

"There's a nice balance of returners and freshmen, with a more well-rounded talent pool across multiple events," Shneider said. "I'm excited for growth both in numbers and in the enthusiasm from our athletes and coaching staff."

The team will embark on three weekend trips to compete in Wisconsin before wrapping up their indoor season at the Indoor MIAC Championships, held at Saint John's University on Friday, February 28th and Saturday, March 1st.

The team will have a two-week break before jumping into the outdoor track and field season, which is scheduled to start March 27th-28th in St. Louis, Missouri, at Washington University and University of St. Louis - Missouri. They will return home on April 12th to host the Saint Mary's University Invitational, their only home meet of the season!

Macalester will host the Outdoor MIAC Championships on May 9th and 10th.

The Saint Mary's track and field team welcomes back several standout athletes ready to make an impact this season. Senior sprinter
Chris Bulwa, a three-time Honorable Mention and 2024 All-MIAC competitor, is primed to contribute to the team's success. Another key returner is senior sprinter
Oliver Adamson, also a three-time Honorable Mention. On the men's throwing team, senior
Casen Fritz is taking the lead, while junior
Grant Schneider is set to spearhead the men's distance squad.

On the women's side, the team is eager to see what incoming freshman
Mya Slavin can bring to the distance squad. Slavin, a 2024 All-MIAC Honorable Mention selection in cross country, is poised to make an impact. Junior Samanta Munson is set to be one of the top sprinters for the Cardinals, while seniors
Morgan Wallendal and
Anna Becker, both of whom earned postseason honors last year, are leading the way for the women's throwers.
