ST. PAUL, Minn. — The Saint Mary's University men's and women's cross country teams delivered standout performances at the MIAC Championships on Saturday at Highland 9 Golf Course, with every Cardinal recording either a season or personal-best time in an impressive team showing.

The Cardinal men opened the day with the 8K race at 11 a.m., turning in their strongest collective performance of the season.

Isaiah Fitzgerald led the way, running his best race of the year with a time of 27:06 to finish 35th out of 164 competitors. Sam Grywacz posted a personal-best 28:54 for 103rd place, followed closely by Goi Ruei in 104th with a season-best 28:56. Liam Smith added another PR, finishing 116th in 29:28, while Levi Jacobs rounded out the team's scoring with a career-best 30:14 for 131st.

The men placed 10th overall in the MIAC standings.

The women followed with their 6K race at noon and made history in the process.

Every Cardinal on the women's side ran a season or personal best, highlighted by an extraordinary performance from Mya Slavin.

Slavin shattered both personal and program records, clocking 21:51 to finish 4th overall out of 169 runners, the highest individual finish in Saint Mary's women's cross country history. Her time also broke the previous school record by a full minute, officially making her the new program record holder in the 6K.

Kendra Schneider also turned in a remarkable effort, lowering her personal best by nearly 50 seconds to finish 51st in 24:00, which ranks seventh all-time on the SMU women's performance list. Katherine Goergen added another personal best with a time of 26:00 for 112th, followed by Megan Frosch (27:00, 135th) and Addison Burckhardt (28:51, PR) to complete the scoring.

The women's team placed 9th overall, marking their best conference finish since 2006.

The Cardinals will close out their 2025 season at the NCAA North Regional, hosted by Whitetail Golf Course in Colfax, Wisconsin, on Saturday, November 15.
