COLFAX, Wis. — The Cardinal cross country season wrapped up Saturday as Saint Mary's made its final appearance at the NCAA North Regional Championships, hosted by UW-Eau Claire at the Whitetail Golf Course in Colfax.
The men kicked things off at noon, competing with a pared-down but determined three-runner squad after injuries sidelined a few teammates. Isaiah Fitzgerald led the way for the team, clocking a 27:22 in the 8K to finish 110th. Goi Ruei followed with a 29:19 (170th), and Liam Smith rounded out the Cardinals day with a 29:38 for 177th.
The gun fired for the women's race at 1:00 p.m., Mya Slavin gutted her way to the top 25 finishers, closing out her year with a 22nd place finish with a 6K time of 22:44.Â
Following behind was Kendra Schneider who finished her last college cross country race in 119th place with a time of 24:52. Katherine Goergen was the third Cardinal across the line, finishing in 26:22 in 165th place. Megan Frosch was 188th, crossing the line with a time of 27:55. Closing out the scoring for the women was Addison Burckhardt, who finished 201st in 29:48.
With the regional meet in the books, both teams now shift into a short training block before transitioning to indoor track season.Â
The Cardinals open their winter schedule on Saturday, January 17, at UW-Superior.
